Metanexus Senior FellowMetanexus Institute created the position of Senior Fellow in 2003 as an important endeavor to promote interdisciplinary scholarship and engage a broader audience in the Metanexus vision. The position of Senior Fellow honors those individuals who have made significant intellectual contributions to the growing encounter between science and religion, interpreted broadly, and to further benefit from their thought and experience through a series of original lectures. As an emissary of Metanexus, the Fellow’s role is to engage audiences in the creative, communal pursuit of wisdom. The Metanexus Senior Fellow is an important outreach project that serves to promote the objectives of Metanexus Institute. The Metanexus Senior Fellow delivers a series of original lectures during a one-year time span at venues arranged by Metanexus Institute, often in collaboration with other institutions. Some of these lectures will always be given in the Greater Philadelphia area; some will eventually be scheduled elsewhere in conjunction with conferences and opportunities with collaborating institutions. In addition to delivering the lectures, the Fellow provides some of his writing for publishing online with Metanexus in the Global Spiral and/or as a podcast, allowing a broader audience to engage in these topics. The Fellow receives a stipend for his/her services, and Metanexus Institute underwrites associated expenses. Donor Opportunity for the Metanexus Senior FellowYou may make a general contribution to the Senior Fellow fund, or you may designate your contribution in honor of an individual. To support the important work of the Metanexus Senior Fellow Fund, visit our donation page and in the tribute section indicate the donation is in honor of "Metanexus Senior Fellow." The line item in the Metanexus budget includes a modest stipend for the lecturer and covers the expenses of travel and lodging, marketing, and miscellaneous other associated costs. It is hoped that eventually this annual allocation will grow, allowing increased compensation for the Fellow and for lectures beyond the Greater Philadelphia area, as well as expanded publishing opportunities.
