Fabio Caporali
is Full Professor of Agricultural Ecology at the University of Tuscia, Viterbo,
Italy, where he belongs to the Department of Crop Production. He received his
Ph.D. in agricultural sciences at the University of Pisa in 1968. He has more
than 30 years experience in teaching both ecology and agro-ecology, first at
the University of Pisa and then at the University of Tuscia. His scientific and
cultural activity is documented by more than one hundred papers published in
national and international journals. He is author or co-author of university
text books for both ecology and agro-ecology. He has long experience in both
carrying out research and in coordinating research projects on
environmentally-friendly agriculture. His current main scientific interest is
in designing, performing and evaluating sustainable farming and cropping
systems in the Mediterranean environment through a participatory research
strategy, where farmers can play a significant role.
