Frank Pennington is an ordained minister in the United Church of Christ, a major Protestant Denomination in the United States. Historically, a progressive denomination its roots are broad with origins in New England Congregationalism as well as the Evangelical and Reformed Church. He earned his Master of Divinity in 1972 from Colgate Rochester/Crozer Divinity School in Rochester New York. Recently retired, Rev. Pennington was the Senior Minister with the United Church of Christ at Valley Forge. Previous ministries span over twelve years in upstate New York including a university setting in Buffalo. Interests include religion, science and culture as well as outdoor activities such as cycling and kayaking on Maryland’s Chesapeake Bay. Rev. Pennington resides in a 1775 farm house along with his spouse who is an administrator/principal working with children who have pervasive developmental issues. They have two children, Nat who is an environmentalist working in Northern California and Elisabeth who works with special needs children in Philadelphia. Having served with local churches, Rev. Pennington believes that the big questions of our time should not be left to the experts in religion and science but must be approached in thoughtful ways accessible to the “person in the pew.”
