Transdisciplinarity and the Unity of Knowledge: Beyond the Science and Religion Dialogue

LSI Program

The Local Societies Initiative (LSI) was a grant program designed to provide "seed money" for societies of scientists, theologians, philosophers, clergy, lay people, and anyone actively engaged in the science and religion dialogue. This unique program differs from other scholarly grant programs in that it emphasizes building organizations, dynamic associations of people who explore the implications of the science and religion interchange.  (Click here if you are a current LSI grantee looking for reporting forms and other LSI resources.)

The Metanexus Global Network (MGN) is the logical extension of the visionary Local Societies Initiative, whose more than 200 societies now claim over 11,000 members in 40 countries. MGN aims to effect the transformation of higher education by providing a mechanism for overcoming disciplinary obstacles to the pursuit of the really big questions of life, the cosmos, and humanity. Such a transformation is meant to open new fields of scientific empirical research, to aid in the discovery of new spiritual information, and to contribute to the pursuit of the unity of knowledge.
