The next time you think about having sex without birth control, The Center for Biological Diversity wants to make sure that you consider how it might affect the greater world around you. Since 2009, the non-profit has handed out 450,000 condoms with endangered species awareness messages on their wrappers. How would your next passionate evening affect, say, polar bears?

“There are more than 3 billion people on the planet under the age of 25. The choices this generation makes will determine whether our planet and its wildlife and natural resource base are burdened with 8 billion or 15 billion people,” said Jerry Karnas, the population campaign director for the Center. For the Holiday season, the Center plans to hand out 50,000 more Endangered Species Condoms to colleges, nightclubs, reproductive health groups and activist groups across America. The Center cites reports that a growing number of protected organisms around the world got to the brink of extinction from interaction, directly or indirectly, with a rapidly growing human population.
