Science & Religion in Context: Metanexus Annual Conference, June 5-9, 2004

SCIENCE & RELGION IN CONTEXT‹INTERNATIONAL, INTERFAITH, INTERDISCIPLINARY CONFERENCE IN PHILADELPHIA DRAWS SCHOLARS FROM 26 COUNTRIES

PHILADELPHIA-Philadelphia's Metanexus Institute announces its 2004 annual conference "Science and Religion in Context" to be held on the campus of the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, June 5-9, 2004. With over 100 delegates coming from 26 countries, diverse scientific disciplines, and faith traditions, this international conference will examine foundational questions in the natural sciences and new approaches to the human sciences, all with the aim of discerning the whereto-and-why of humanity, cosmos, and the divine in the 21st century. We will also explore ways to take the science-and-religion dialogue beyond the Ivory Towers. Keynotes, panels, over 40 paper presentations, and workshops will examine theoretical problems and practical issues in the contemporary encounters between science and religion. Keynote speakers include George F.R. Ellis, University of Cape Town cosmologist and 2004 Templeton Prize Winner; J. Wentzel van Huyssteen, Princeton Theological Seminary theologian and 2004 Edinburgh Gifford Lecturer; and John R. McNeill, Georgetown University historian and author of Something New Under the Sun: An Environmental History of the Twentieth-Century World.

Please join us for this exciting gathering. For further information and to register, go to the conference site http://www.metanexus.net/conference2004/ or contact us at conference2004@metanexus.net or 215.789.2200.
