International Conference: Science and Religion Forum, "Creation and the Abrahamic Faiths", 11-13 September 2006, University of Manchester, England

"Creation and the Abrahamic Faiths"

11th-13th September 2006

University of Manchester, England Dalton Ellis Hall

The Science and Religion Forum has organized a conference entitled "Creation and the Abrahamic Faiths" in which the way Creation is understood by three monotheistic religions will be considered.

All are invited to the Annual Conference which will take place at the University of Manchester, England, September 11-13, 2006.

The conference is open to both members and nonmembers of The Science & Religion Forum, an open group of people interested in exploring the relationship between established scientific knowledge and religious faith. The Forum welcomes those of any religion or none.

Speakers include:

Dr David Wilkinson, Principal of St John's College, Durham Prof Keith Ward, Regius Professor of Divinity Emeritus, University of Oxford Dr Mawil Izzi Dien, Senior Lecturer in Islamic Studies, University of Wales, Lampeter Prof Dan Cohn-Sherbok, Professor of Judaism, University of Wales, Lampeter Prof David Knight, Professor of history and philosophy of science, Department of Philosophy, University of Durham

The Gowland Lecture will take place on Monday at 8.00 pm and will be given by Dr. David Wilkinson on "Creation accounts in the Old Testament". This lecture will be open to all (by ticket only, which are free but limited by the size of the lecture room).

The full programme and travel details will be sent before the conference to all those registering.

Short papers (maximum 15 minutes) may be presented by participants on the conference theme. A proposal for submitting a paper should be in the form of a title and short summary sent by 31st August to: Dr. Andrew Robinson: a.j.robinson@doctors.org.uk

Generous Bursaries are available, including for those in full-time education and for certain people who have no financial assistance from employers or other sponsors. If you wish to apply for a bursary, please complete the relevant section on the Booking Form. If you don't fall into any of the categories for a bursary but feel that you have a special case, note your circumstances in a covering letter.

Dalton Ellis Hall is situated near Victoria Park which has four and a half acres of landscaped grounds. There is easy access from Manchester city centre. All accommodation will be in single en suite rooms.
