Dr. Hauerwas, Professor of Theological Ethics, Duke University Divinity School, will present “Pentecost,” a talk that is part of the Metanexus Institute Fall Lecture Series. “Pentecost” considers the dignity of difference in a modern world. Christians mark the feast of Pentecost as the birth of a people through the restoration of communication between people of different languages and stories. The Hauerwas talk looks at humanity’s prospects of transforming a trend of domination into a culture of communication, where people are free to love one another without fear.
