Jairo Roldán is a full tenured professor in the physics department at the Universidad del Valle, Cali, Columbia and director of the Group for Research on the Conceptual Foundations of Theoretical Physics. He was born in Tuluá, Columbia in 1949. He holds a B.Sc. in physics from the Universidad del Valle; a M.S. in physics from the State University of New York at Stony Brook; a DEA in history and philosophy of science from the Université de Paris; and a Ph.D. in philosophy of science also from the Université de Paris. The title of his doctorate thesis was Language, Mécanique Quantique et Réalité. His thesis adviser was Bernard d’Espagnat. He is the author of several papers on theoretical physics, philosophy of science, and about the relationship between science and religion, and co-author with Y. Ben-Dov and G. Guerrero of the book La Complementariedad: una Filosophia para el Siglo XXI, Programa Editorial, Universidad del Valle, Colección Ciencias Físicas, Exactas y Naturales, Febrero 2004, Cali, Columbia, ISBN 958-670-282-0. He is the chairman of the National Spiritual Assembly of the Bahá´ís of Columbia. He is married and has two children.
