Interested and qualified scholars from a variety of academic disciplines are invited to submit a letter of intent between February 15 and April 15, 2005 . Submission will be accepted no later than midnight on April 15, 2005 . The letter should describe the 2-year research project you propose to conduct and it should be not more than three pages in length, single-spaced, with no smaller than a 10-point font. Attention should be paid to the significance and the methodological design of the project. A curriculum vitae summary of not more than three pages for the principal investigator should also be attached. This should include references to previous articles and books written by the investigator.

The Letter of Intent stage is a competition and only the highest rated letters of intent, selected by a panel of judges, will be invited to submit full proposals. We expect to invite approximately 40 letters of intent to continue to the submission of the full proposal. We especially welcome applications that plan to incorporate collaboration across disciplinary boundaries.

SUBMISSION OF LETTER OF INTENT

To submit your Letter of Intent, you must complete three steps:

Step 1: Register to the Spiritual Capital Research Program. The registration form will require you to list basic information on yourself and the letter of intent. When you click on “Submit Letter of Intent Information”, the Web site will acknowledge your submission and it will direct you back to this Web page. IT IS REQUIRED FOR YOU TO REGISTER BY APRIL 15, 2005 IN ORDER FOR YOU TO HAVE A COMPLETE LETTER OF INTENT APPLICATION. It is recommended that you complete the registration form well in advance of the April 15, 2005 deadline. If you experience any problems with the registration form, please send a message to SpiritualCapital@metanexus.net.

Step 2: Attach your letter of intent document(s) in an email message to Spiritual Capital Project Manager at SpiritualCapital (at) metanexus.net and send no later than April 15, 2005. The document(s) should be in either Microsoft Word or PDF format. Once your document(s) has been received, you will receive confirmation via email.

Step 3: You must submit 3 hard copies of the entire letter of intent, postmarked no later than April 15, 2005 , to:
