This multi-faith society includes members from several regional universities and institutions. The have hosted lectures and events on such themes as “theologies of religions,” “the origin of man,” “eugenics,” “bioethics,” “genetically modified foods,” and “problems with technology,” along with activities in conjunction with the worldwide Einstein celebrations. One talk sponsored by this society was even held at a nuclear power plant—a perfect place, in my opinion, to conduct the science and religion dialogue! They have already generated a long list of accomplishments, and their future plans include symposia on bioethics, generating a reader on environmental issues from a science and religion perspective, public seminars on the themes of “Revitalization of Agriculture through a Dialogue on Civilization” and “The Philosophical, Moral, and Religious Aspects of Sustainable Development,” and an national essay contest. The members are also looking into publishing a book of “comic strips” on science and religion issues aimed at high-school students. This fascinating multi-faith, multicultural dialogue between science, faith, technology, and politics has found additional support from other national foundations and centers, a national newspaper, and several universities.
