This society is also hosted by an independent non-profit organization, and its members meet monthly for book studies on such thinkers as Teilhard or Polkinghorne in the service of their larger mission “to work for sustainable cultures of life and for the empowerment for and the participation in the Great Work of the transition to the Ecozoic era.” The society has offered a series of faculty seminars (some of the speakers of which are members of other LSI groups from various countries). Their significant interests have been in physics, cosmology, and sustainable energy, which they define as environmentally, socio-economically, socio-culturally friendly renewable forms of energy generation. Later this year, they will organize a conference entitled, “Teilhard de Chardin’s Significance for a Planetary Ethics and Creation Spiritualities,” to be held in conjunction with the prestigious Ateneo of Manila University. They have been very active in outreach, and they have tuned their presentation to suit the Asian audience. Not only are they doing solid intellectual exploration, but they let that drive the good works they do for their community and their society. See their website for more details on all their efforts.
