This society is hosted by an independent non-profit organization, and is dedicated to the dialogue between Buddhism and science. The focus of the members so far has been in the areas of the life sciences and medicine, but they are expanding to include small group studies on questions of astronomy and cosmology from a Buddhist perspective. Following on their successful conferences and lectures series, upcoming plans include hosting a conference entitled, “Body and Mind: Perspectives of Spirituality and Science,” participation at the 8th Asian Bioethics Conference, and another international conference on “Buddhism and the Ethics of Science and Technology.” Their goal is to promote the science and religion dialogue in their cultural context, but also to connect the local society with the international network. The society publishes a newsletter that is distributed nationally, and you can learn more about this society and their plans on their website. Their conference on “Dreams and Spirituality” garnered a full, front page of the “Ideas” section of the national Bangkok Biznews.
