"FOCUS
ON THE FUTURE": CELEBRATING TODAY'S DISTINGUISHED RESEARCHERS, SHOWCASING TOMORROW'S RESEARCH INNOVATORS The Science & Ultimate Reality program will bring together a carefully selected group of the most outstanding, well-established research leaders within the physics community today. However, it also will take substantial risks in seeking to identify a set of potentially outstanding future leaders who at present necessarily will be rather young and relatively untested. In physics and mathematics, it is well known that the most powerful and profound breakthrough insights often come from surprisingly young people-e.g., Einstein at age 26. The project, therefore, seeks to cast its net to include key emerging leaders in their 20s and early 30s. These are the people who may, in time, become the new super-innovative leaders in physics in the first half of the 21st century. This program will provide a high-level forum for interaction of established and new thinking by showcasing the creative, future-directed work of some of the most visionary and innovative research leaders in science today. The overarching goal will be to envision conceptual directions toward major discoveries with a "focus on the future" that unveil new deep insights into the nature of physical reality. In conjunction with the book
project and symposium, we are sponsoring a special "Young Researchers
Competition" (See Competition). |
